P.A. Altmaier, reel maker, was a well known gunsmith that lived in Harrisburg, PA. He was born in Bavaria in 1826 and came to the US in 1850. Peter received several patents for rifles and pistols and also one for a fishing reel in 1869. Altmaier died in 1906. He is considered a pioneer reel maker.
